Vienna Flower Ball 2027 is on Friday 15 January at City Hall, the Rathaus. A ticket without a seat costs €130, sold online from 11:00 on 11 November 2026 through a link on the city's Flower Ball page. Entry rose from €90 to €130, yet the city's own ball costs less than the TU Ball (€150) or Philharmonic Ball (€220), and Friday means an all-night U-Bahn home.
When and where is the Vienna Flower Ball 2027?
The 103rd Flower Ball, the Blumenball in German, takes place on Friday 15 January 2027 in the ceremonial rooms of Vienna City Hall. The entrance for guests is at Lichtenfelsgasse 2. The city's own parks department, the Wiener Stadtgärten, runs the ball. Our guide to the Vienna ball season 2027 compares it with the other balls in Vienna this winter.

The city's own gardeners decorate City Hall for the night. The city says they bring 100,000 flowers. In 2026 they used orchids, anthuriums, roses, lilies and carnations.
How much are Flower Ball tickets in 2027?
Entry without a seat costs €130 in 2027, up €40 from €90 in 2026. A seat costs €170 to €210 by room, against €140 to €180 in 2026, when it included entry. The 2027 list does not say if it still does, so ask the organiser at ball@ma42.wien.gv.at first.
The reduced ticket costs €90, up from €70. In 2026 it was for students under 26 with ID, apprentices and people doing civilian or military service. The 2027 rule is not out yet.
Even after the rise, the Flower Ball costs less than the TU Ball (€150) or the Philharmonic Ball (€220). It is not the cheapest: the Rainbow Ball costs €100, and the Ukrainian Charity Ball from €85. For students the TU Ball is cheaper: €55, against the Flower Ball's reduced €90. Our guide to Vienna in January lists the month's other balls by date.
The prices are on the city's German page. In early November its English page did not show them.
Seat prices by room:
- €170: Grauer Salon, Steinsaal I and II, the north buffet
- €190: Wappensaal, Stadtsenatssitzungssaal, Volkshalle, Galerie
- €210: Festsaal (the ceremonial hall), parquet and boxes
When do Flower Ball tickets go on sale? 11 November at 11:00
Sales open at 11:00 on 11 November 2026. At that time a link to the online ticket sales goes up on the city's Flower Ball page. As of early November, no other way to buy a ticket for 2027 has been announced.
In 2026 tickets were also sold by phone and at the Wien Ticket pavilion by the State Opera. Buying in person carried a €2 fee. Whether that repeats in 2027 is not announced yet.
Questions go to the organiser, the Wiener Stadtgärten, at ball@ma42.wien.gv.at or on +43 1 4000-42048.
What is the Flower Ball dress code for 2027?
The city has not published a dress code for 2027. In 2026 it asked for elegant, festive evening wear: a ball gown or a long evening dress for women. For men it asked for a tuxedo or a dark suit with a bow tie, or a gala uniform.
That is formal evening dress. For men, though, a dark suit with a bow tie was enough in 2026, and a tuxedo was not required. The Vienna Chamber of Commerce's 2027 ball calendar lists a ball gown or long evening dress for women. For men it lists elegant, festive evening wear.
When does the Flower Ball start and end? 20:00 to 05:00 in 2026
The 2027 times and programme are not published yet. In 2026 the night ran from 20:00, when the doors opened, to 05:00. The Rueff dance school opened the ball at 21:00, and the Fledermaus quadrille was danced at midnight and again at 02:00.
In 2026 the opening music included Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers. The Rueff dance school led both quadrilles in the Festsaal. Wolfgang Steubl's ball orchestra and big band played in the Festsaal, and a live band in the Wappensaal. A disco ran in the Friedrich-Schmidt-Halle until the early morning.
At the 2026 ball the Rathauskeller restaurant ran a dining room in the Kleiner Salon from 21:00 to 02:30. The Rathauskeller also served flower dinners, sold only with an entry ticket. The food and drink outlets took cash and cards. Check the city's Flower Ball page for the 2027 programme before you go.
From the Naschmarkt to City Hall: about 26 minutes on foot
From MINT, City Hall is about 26 minutes on foot by our estimate (1.9 km). By U-Bahn, Vienna's underground, it is one U4 stop and three U2 stops, and on a Friday night both lines run all night. In ball shoes in January you may prefer the U-Bahn. MINT is a minute from Kettenbrückengasse, a station on the U4. Ride one stop to Karlsplatz, change to the U2 and ride three stops, past Museumsquartier and Volkstheater, to Rathaus.
The timetables give about 2 minutes on the U4 and about 5 on the U2. Add the change and the walk from the station to the entrance in Lichtenfelsgasse. In early November no U2 closure at Rathaus was announced for January. Check wienerlinien.at before you go.
How do I get home after the Flower Ball on Friday 15 January?
On a Friday night the U-Bahn runs all night, every 15 minutes, so you can leave the ball whenever you like. Take the U2 to Karlsplatz and one U4 stop to Kettenbrückengasse, or walk back to the Naschmarkt in about 26 minutes by our estimate.
On a normal weeknight the U-Bahn stops at about midnight and starts again at about 05:00. On this Friday you can leave at 01:00 or 03:00 and still ride home.
Where to stay for the Flower Ball: Friday 15 to Sunday 17 January
Our Double MINT with Balcony is 55 m² and takes up to 3 guests. Four adults need the Penthouse Maisonette, or two apartments in one booking. Stays are two nights or more, so book the Friday and the Saturday night. The apartment then stays yours until check-out at 11:00 on Sunday, so nobody has to leave at 11:00 on Saturday after dancing into the morning. Check-in is from 15:00, which leaves time to change for the ball. We store luggage free before check-in and after check-out. In early November both nights were still free: check these two nights and book.
