Vienna flea markets mostly run at the weekend, and the one to go to on a short visit is the Saturday market at the Naschmarkt, Vienna's open-air food market. About 400 private sellers and dealers set up on the Linke Wienzeile beside Kettenbrückengasse U-Bahn station every Saturday from 06:30. The City of Vienna says it closes at 15:00; the Vienna Tourist Board and some other guides still say 14:00. There is no market on Sundays. Go between 06:30 and 07:30, while sellers are still setting up, and not at 11:00, when the tourist crowds arrive and prices go up.

When is the Naschmarkt flea market open in 2026?
The flea market runs every Saturday from 06:30 to 15:00 on the Linke Wienzeile by Kettenbrückengasse, in the 6th district, with about 400 private sellers and professional dealers. Its German name is Flohmarkt beim Naschmarkt (Flohmarkt means flea market). The City of Vienna gives 15:00 as the close; the Vienna Tourist Board and some other guides still say 14:00. Because the two closing times differ, do not plan to go in the last hour.

The City plans to keep the flea market when it rebuilds the Naschmarkt: the new park and market hall are finished, the flea market's own ground comes next, and no start date has been set.
What can you buy at the flea market's roughly 400 stalls?
The stalls sell furniture, porcelain, paintings, jewellery, vinyl, second-hand clothing, comics and household goods, along with plenty of junk and the occasional bit of scrap. The finds worth having, such as antiques, vinyl, vintage clothes and jewellery, are mostly with the long-standing dealers and with one-off private sellers. Be more careful at stalls repeating the same mass-produced trinkets.
Private sellers set up next to the professional dealers, but the City lets each person book a pitch at most three times a calendar year. If you see something you want at a private stall, buy it then, because that seller may not be back this year.
You will need cash, because card readers are rare at almost all of Vienna's flea markets. Haggling is normal, even at the stalls selling new clothes. Do not accept the first price; counter with no less than half and be prepared to walk away.
What time should you go? Saturday hour by hour from 06:30
From 06:30 to 07:30 the market has its best selection, serious collectors and room to negotiate. The main browsing hours are 08:00 to 11:00, when crowds are still moderate, and from 11:00 the tourist crowds arrive and prices go up.

Staying beside the market makes the 06:30 start easy. The food market's stalls and restaurants open at 06:00, so you can have coffee and breakfast there before or after your first round. The farmers' stalls stay open on Saturdays until 18:00. The flea market is at our end of the Naschmarkt, roughly 1 to 3 minutes on foot from our apartments by our own estimate, so there is no early taxi or train to catch.
Can you sell there? Day pitches from €26.30
You can, if you book a day pitch from the City. The City's pitch-booking page, last updated on 21 July 2026 and checked by us on 18 September 2026, sets these rules:
- Fees: €26.30 for a small pitch of 1.5 m by 2 m, €52.60 for a large pitch of 3 m by 2 m.
- Booking: online with ID Austria, the Austrian digital ID, or in person at the Marktamt (the City's market office) at the Naschmarkt. Its cash desk is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 08:00 to 12:00, Wednesdays from 14:00 to 17:30 and Saturdays from 06:00 to 10:00. You can book up to six Saturdays ahead, and you pay when you book.
- Limit: each person may book at most three times a calendar year.
- Deadline: a pitch not in use by 07:30 is given to another seller.
- December: from 12 to 24 December only a restricted market is possible, because of the Christmas tree market.
If you do not have ID Austria, you have to book in person at the market office. The Sunday markets set their own fees: a pitch at Wienerberg costs €35, or €40 for a premium spot, and one at huma eleven costs €30, at September 2026 prices.
Vienna's other flea markets, and two every Sunday from 07:00
The Naschmarkt flea market runs on Saturdays only. On a Sunday, go to Riesenflohmarkt Wienerberg in the 10th district or Flohmarkt 11 at the huma eleven shopping centre in the 11th: both run all year, in any weather, from about 07:00 to 13:00.

Am Hof's closing time is 20:00 on the City's page; Vienna Online and the Vienna Tourist Board's page on flea and antiques markets both say 18:00, but both pages are older than the City's. If you want time to look around, assume it closes at 18:00. Am Hof is not a classic flea market: only dealers with a trade licence may sell there, up to 40 of them plus three antiquarian booksellers. It opens at 10:00, so on a Saturday until mid-November it fits after an early round at the Naschmarkt.
Wild im West runs as a summer-only pop-up on a vacant lot; by autumn its season may already be over, so confirm current dates before planning a visit.
Staying by the Naschmarkt does not help with any market in this table. The Kettenbrückengasse advantage applies specifically to the Naschmarkt's own Saturday flea market; for Am Hof, Wienerberg, huma eleven or METAMarkt, a base in the relevant district is just as good. A Naschmarkt base still lets you walk to the Saturday market for its first hour.
Getting there: U4 to Kettenbrückengasse or bus 59A
U4 Kettenbrückengasse is the flea market's own station, and bus 59A also serves the area, with a stop at Bärenmühldurchgang.
If you are staying at the Karlsplatz end of the Naschmarkt instead, walk through the food market. The direct walk between the two ends is roughly 520 metres (about 6 minutes); browsing the market's stalls on the way will take longer. At 06:30 on a Saturday those food stalls are already open.
Nearby underpass waterproofing work displaced some Saturday farmers'-market stalls earlier in 2026, targeted to finish by the end of August 2026. Wiener Linien's own current construction listings, checked 18 September 2026, do not show Kettenbrückengasse among active projects, though no source explicitly states the work is finished. Check Wiener Linien's live journey planner before you travel, as you would for any station.
Where to stay for a 06:30 start
From our apartments the flea market's stalls are roughly 1 to 3 minutes on foot, by our own estimate. You can be there when it opens at 06:30, drop heavy finds at the apartment mid-morning and go back out.
